The Competition Law Association is a partner of the Energy Forum of Science and Economy

We are pleased to announce that the Polish Competition Law Association has become a partner of the Energy Science and Economy Forum, which will be held at the University of Economics in Katowice on November 28, 2022.

The theme of the Forum is energy sources in times of crisis and their financing.

The conference is organized by the University of Economics in Katowice, the Research Center for Public Competition Law and Sectoral Regulation at the University of Silesia in Katowice, the Polish Academy of Sciences (Institute of Law), the Association of Consumer Advocates and the Mercatus et Civis Foundation in cooperation with the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, the Bank for Environmental Protection, the Polish Bimetan Organization and Brysiewicz, Bokina, Saklawski and Partners sp.k. law firm.

Speakers will include Dr. Marcin Krupa (Mayor of the City of Katowice), Dr. Krzysztof Zamasz, Professor (Member of the Board of VEOLIA POLAND S.A.), Dr. Grzegorz Kinelski (Member of the Board of Veolia Contracting Sp. z o.o.), Dr. Przemysław Ligenza (President of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management), Dr. Paweł Cioch (Member of the Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A.), Jarosław Wróbel (Member of the Management Board of ENERGA Obrót S.A.), Jacek Brzeziński (Vice President of the Management Board of PGE Obrót S.A.), Grzegorz Lot (Vice President of Polenergia Dystrybucja S.A. and Polenergia Sprzedaż Sp. z o.o.), Jacek Miketa (Vice President of the Upper Silesia Fund), as well as representatives of leading universities and technical universities in Poland.

The Chairman of the Organizing Committee is Dr. Marcin Kraśniewski, LL.M., and the Chairman of the Scientific Council is Dr. Marzena Czarnecka, Prof. of the University of Economics in Katowice (academic staff of the University of Economics in Katowice).

The conference aims to identify legal and economic solutions adequate to the situation of the growing energy crisis and the possibility of obtaining sources of secure financing, taking into account the needs of businesses and consumers. Its role is to create a platform for theoretical and practical considerations of the scientific, administrative and business communities. Thanks to the exchange of experiences of the scientific community, consumer advocates and entrepreneurs, it will be possible to identify solutions that can minimize the effects of the growing energy crisis.

During the conference, the organizers would like to address topics in the following areas:

  • Access to energy sources in an energy crisis;
  • New technologies in times of crisis and their financing (solar power, heat pumps, energy storage, waste incinerators, biogas plants, others);
  • Regulation of the fuel market in the era of the European Union’s energy transition;
  • Competition and consumer protection in the context of financing of energy sources;
  • The role of financial institutions in financing the energy transition.

The conference will be held at the Center for Modern Technologies of the University of Economics in Katowice (Katowice, 5 Bogucicka Street). Registration for the conference is possible via the event website.
