Ceremonial award ceremony for the best master’s and doctoral theses

We are pleased to inform you that on June 21, 2022, an award ceremony was held in the competition for the best master’s and doctoral theses, organized by the Chairperson of the Office for Competition and Consumer Protection in cooperation with the Competition Law Association.

The Awarding Committee presented an award of the Competition Law Association and a prize of PLN 5,000 to Mr. Jan Siesicki, a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at Warsaw University, for his thesis “The evolution of the approach to the assessment of vertical agreements taking into account the concept of VBER amendment,” defended under the supervision of Dr. Magdalena Slok-Wódkowska.  This year, there was an accumulation of wins, as Mr. Siesicki also received the Third Prize of the Chairperson of the of the Office for Competition and Consumer Protection for his work.

Prizes of the Chairperson of the Office for Competition and Consumer Protection in the competition for the best master’s thesis on competition protection were awarded in addition to:

Ms. Aleksandra Kołodziejczyk, a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw, for her thesis “Sustainable development agreements in the food chain in the light of competition law – a road to cartels or a necessary measure to protect the environment?” defended under the supervision of Prof. Robert Grzeszczak (1st prize).

Mr. Jacek Szreniawski, a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw, for his thesis “The EU Emission Trading Scheme in the Context of the Operation of Polish Energy Companies,” defended under the supervision of Prof. Paweł Wajda, Ph.D., UW (2nd prize).

Ms. Anna Latuszek, a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw, for her thesis titled “Risk of distortion of competition on the example of state aid in the aviation sector. Analysis of the decision-making practice of the European Commission in 2014-2020”, defended under the supervision of Prof. Robert Grzeszczak (honorable mention).
