On July 1, 2014, the Polish Competition Law Association held a workshop on “Actions for damages for infringements of competition law provisions” in cooperation with Linklaters law firm.

The workshop was led by Ms. Małgorzata Szwaj, the partner heading the competition law department at Linklaters and Ms. Anna Cudna-Wagner, Managing Associate in the litigation department at this law firm.

The workshop was held to discuss legal measures available to pursue actions for damages in connection with infringements of competition law in Poland (the current situation).  Also discussed was the draft Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on certain rules governing actions for damages for infringements of the competition law with reference to the existing judicature of the national courts and the Court of Justice.  Finally, the participants jointly debated how the proposed Directive could be best implemented into the Polish legal system and considered the scope of regulations needed to be put in place to implement the Directive.
